Illinois

This past week we went on vacation with Joe's family to Southern Illinois to visit his grandparents and have a campout with his whole family for fathers day. We had so much fun the whole week, unfortunatly I didn't take any pictures when we were camping but here are a few from the rest of the week.

Jonah on the plane to Tulsa, he loved it and thought he was so cool. When we left Phoenix he sat on my lap and stared out the window for about 20 minutes until he feel asleep. He stayed sleeping for about 45 minutes and the rest of the time he was awesome. On the plane from Tulsa to St. Louis he fell back asleep as the plane was headed out to the runway and woke up about 10 minutes before we landed. I was so stressed for weeks about the flight with him, I didn't want him to be one of those screaming kids on the plane that everyone hates. Luckily he loved it. On the way home he fell asleep as we were taking off and didn't wake up until we pulled up to the gate in Phoenix.

We decided not to go with Joe's sisters family to see the arch in St. Louis because we have both been before and Jonah wouldn't remember it anyways. Plus it was so freakin hot and humid and we sat on the shuttle to get our rental car for half and hour with a ton of people and no ac. Needless to say we were not in the mood to do any out door activities, so here is the picture I got of it from the car on our way out of town.

The second day we were there it poured in the morning which cooled things of considerably. This is a picture of Joe's grandparents farm from their front porch. It was so beautiful there, I would love to live there if it weren't for the bugs and ticks and humidity.

While we were camping everyone decided to go to a near by lake and go swimming. We didn't bring out bathing suits out there so we only put our feet but it felt so nice. Jonah loved the water and when we were done he had sand all over himself including his face.

On Sunday we went to Garden of the Gods and it was gorgeous and had veiws for miles. All the kids had a ton of fun climbing on all the rocks while the parents and grandparents had heartattacks. Here is a picture of Joe up on one of the rocks.

If you click on this picture to enlarge it you will see Jonah and Joe up in the shadows.

Here is a close up of them in the same place. Jonah though he was cool up there with the big kids.

Jonah with his grandpa with the beautiful view in the background.

The whole family minus Sue. I have a picture that is slighty closer up but you can't see how high up we are in it.

Grandma and Grandpa with all the grandkids. Jonah is freaking out because his grandpa almost dropped him on his face and he felt he was trying to make him feel guilty about it. All weekend he kept sliding off peoples laps like he was going to get down and run away like a big kid. And Joe's grandma was talking and forgot who she was holding and let go so he could walk away and he landed flat on his face. And the he did it to Joe's dad and he had one hand in his pocket hand Jonah fell but didn't hit the ground that time. He started screaming and when I picked him up he proceeded to give his grandpa the nastiest look. I felt bad for them both they felt so bad but it could have happened to anyone. I think Jonah saw all the older kids running around and thought he could do the same.

Here we are with all the kids back at the farm being pulled by Joe on the quad. They had so much fun on this.

Jonah thinking he is driving the quad with his daddy.

On Tuesday before we left Joe took me out on the quad to show me his grandpas property. Here are the horses out in the pasture.

Here one of the ponds on the property.

So thanks to Joe's parents for the trip, we had so much fun and we really appreciate it.

Glad he did good on the plane. It's always a bit un-nerving to do that because you never know how they are going to be. Looks like a fun trip!
