Christmas and Walking

Well Christmas was pretty crappy for poor Jonah, I think he probably slept all of 2 hours on Christmas Eve (which means I only slept for two hours) so he was pretty crabby all day. I think Christmas was the worse day for him and his hives, he didn't want anything to do with anything. Needless to say he barely showed any interest in any of his presents and pretty much whined all day long. I felt so bad for him and I also felt bad for getting so frustrated with him all day. He was so uncomfortable all day and just whined and tried scratching his skin off. But when he woke up the day after Christmas the hives were pretty much all gone and he was in a much better mood. Here are all the pictures I took on Christmas day, there aren't to many because I was to busy dealing with Jonah and trying to get him to open his presents.

His laptop, it almost looks like a real one and it even has a mouse. He got this even though it is for a kid much older then him but he won't leave computers alone. if we let him near our computer he grabs the mouse and immediately starts clicking as fast as he can. One day he opened up like 75 Internet explorers. So now he has his own and let me tell you he pounds on it and bangs the mouse in to the key board. Now that I have seen that he is never going to touch this computer.

Playing with his grandma and the laptop.

His poor face, I swear he looked like a burn victim. we kept putting the bows on his head and he would take them off and look at them and then put it back on his head. (Oh and you can see my favorite present on the left side of the picture from my in laws, yea!)

Jonah loves this little village and he will sit and play with it forever, unfortunately it is the most annoying thing known to man.

Here is the present that we got Jonah, he actually played with it before Christmas when I was trying to wrap presents. Luckily he is still to young to realize what is going on. I took this last night at my grandma's house, doesn't he look so much better.

Here is a video of him walking last night at my grandmas. He is pretty good at it now and hardly ever falls. It is so weird for me to see him walking out of the corner of my eye, he looks so grown up know. Definitely not a baby anymore.

Update

Jonah looked worse when he woke up this morning so Joe took him to the doctors. They gave him a perscription for a steriod that should clear it right up. They also gave us a persricption for a EpiPen that we can keep in our freezer so if he eats something again that he has a allergic reation to and stops breathing we can give him a shot and take him to the ER. His ear infection also hasn't cleared up at all since we took him in last Wednesday so the gave us a new antibiotic for that. I feel so bad for my poor little guy, he looks so miserable.

Hives

Tonight when I got home from dinner with my co-workers Jonah wasn't asleep yet so I picked him up to give him a hug and kiss and I noticed he had little red bumps all over his body. I though it was a little weird but I figured if they were still there in the morning we would take him to the doctors. Well he woke up at about one this morning crying so Joe brought him into bed with me (he wasn't in bed yet) and he fell back asleep for about an hour and then woke up crying again and wouldn't go back to sleep. So I turned on the light and saw that the red bumps had spread all over and were now hives. My poor baby, he looks horrible. These pictures don't do it justice. So I sent Joe out to get some Benadryl so hopefully he looks better in the morning. I know my brothers get hives really bad from eating strawberry's and Jonah had a ton of blackberry's today so I am thinking that's what caused it. If you click on the pictures it looks worse.

Also he has ANOTHER ear infection. His doctor finally decided to refer us to a ear nose and throat doctor so he may have to get tubes in his ears. I really hope he gets them because I think he has seriously had an ear infection at least once a month since like May. He probably had some before that also but he never gets fussy or has a temperature so it is hard to tell when he gets them.

I have been waiting since Jonah was born for him to make an attachment to something, either a blanket or a stuffed animal. Well about three weeks ago he finally decided he loved this bear he got from his Aunt Angela when he was born. I have had this in his crib with him since he was a couple months old but he never really noticed it before but now he has to have it with him when he goes to bed or he will cry until he gets it. He will also grab it out of his crib when we get him up in the morning and carries it around all day. It is pretty cute but now I hope it doesn't get lost.

Anyway I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and I promise my next post will have a video of Jonah walking.

Amazing!!!!

So I think I have finally discovered how to keep Jonah still for 5 minutes. Last night Joe brought in Jonah's car seat so we could take it apart to wash. Well this morning I was on the computer checking email and facebook when I noticed that Jonah was pretty quite out there. Now usually this means that he is getting in to massive amounts of trouble so I go out there and he is just sitting in his car seat playing with a stuffed animal. So I turned Noggin on for him (this kid NEVER sits and watches TV) and half an hour later he is still just sitting there watching TV. I really can't believe it, he never sits still for this long. To bad I didn't think of this yesterday when I was on my death bed and he was a terror.

His new favorite thing to do is to unload my bookcase all over the floor. He does this at least once a day.

Last night I was making dinner and I had Joe peel some potatoes for me and I guess Jonah wanted to help to. He kept following us around the kitchen and grabbing at the stove. I need to start using my back burners instead of the front ones because he can reach them and try's grabbing the pots when I am cooking. Also he is totally walking in this picture, I really need to get some video of it.

Museums

This past weekend was a fun one for Jonah, first he went with his grandparents to their neighborhood Christmas party. He got his face painted, it was a lovely PINK and gold glitter ice cream cone. I am very surprised that I left it on him all day. By the evening it look like he was pink bruises all over his cheek. My brothers kept asking what happened to him. I am bummed I didn't think to get a picture of it.

He actually crawled around in the grass. Up until now he has hated the grass, but Saturday it didn't seem to bother him very much.

Riding on grandpa's shoulders. He got to see both sets of grandparents Saturday and quite a few of his Aunts and Uncles and one of his great grandmas. This kid is so lucky, he was 2 grandma's, 2 grandpa's, 4 great grandma's, 2 great grandpa's, 1 great great grandma, and 1 great great grandpa all still alive. Nice!!!

On Sunday after church my nephew Aiden wanted to see dinosaurs. Luck for us the Arizona Museum of Natural History, AZ Museum for Youth and Mesa Contemporary Arts Center are all free the first Sunday of every month and are all in walking distance of each other. Also it was a beautiful day outside. So my mother in law, Aiden, Jonah, Caleb and I all headed down to the Natural History Museum to see the dinosaurs. Jonah and Aiden LOVED it and Aiden was so excited to see the dinosaurs. The weird thing is they had this poop exhibit. it had all different kinds of animal poo on display and had all kinds of info on things like why poop is brown and why it smells. It was a pretty disturbing exhibit.

After that we walked over to the AZ Museum for Youth to let t he boys blow of some steam. The have an awesome play area there and it was nice not to have to pay just to play. Last time I took Jonah and he is to young to do any of the activities in the museum part but he loved the play area. Unfortunately I don't want to shell out $5.50 for each of us so that he can play for a little while. He loved the slide especially since it had a ramp up to it instead of a ladder so he could do it all on his own.

I though he would freak out a little when he went down with no one to catch him but he loved it and wanted to do it over and over. Unfortunately since it was free day there were tons of bigger kids running all over and I was afraid they would trample him. Last time we went it was pretty empty so he could have done whatever but this time I felt better with him in the baby/toddler area.

Last time we were there Jonah fell into this hole and me and Lisa were to busy talking to realize it until he started crying. Of course I had to take a picture if it before I pulled him out.

Well this time Jonah went over and sat in the same hole for a while and just played with this truck. I just thought it was funny that he gravitated to the same area to play. It probably has to do with all the mirrors right here and he LOVES to look at himself.

I got one picture of him walking and by the time I switched it over on my camera to take a video he stopped. He is actually walking more then he is crawling now. But if he knows we are trying to get him to walk he won't do it.

Last time we went to the museum Jonah got a nasty cold and was up half the night screaming because he was so congested. Well guess what happened again. We were up half the night again last night with him screaming inconsolably. Poor baby, maybe it is just a coincidence but I am not sure about that.

PS. That is his ornery face. He makes it when he is being bad and gets caught.

Mine and Joe's anniversary was on Monday and my wonderful mother in law babysat Jonah so we could go out. I can't remember the last time we went on an actual date. We went to Rigatoni's which is the restaurant that catered our wedding. The food was so yummy, if you have never been there you need to (its on Brown between Mesa Dr and Country Club). We also went and saw Four Christmas' which was pretty funny, you can't go wrong with Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon. It was nice to get out for a night but I was so tired the next morning.

Janono

So Jonah has been slightly ornery this past week. Anytime we tell him no when he is doing something he isn't supposed to he laughs at us like we are joking and continues to do what ever it is he isn't supposed to. I feel like I am constantly telling him "no no", this would be why one of his nicknames is Janono.

He will actually go over to things he knows he isn't supposed to mess with and touch it and then look at us and laughs. If I give him a little smack on the hand when he does this he will also just laugh. WTH. So obviously that doesn't work. It is funny because at his doctors appointment yesterday his doctor asked us if Jonah understood simple commands. I told him yes but that doesn't mean he obeys them.

Anyway I guess I have to take back my comment in my last post about not thinking Jonah would walk until closer to Christmas. Last night he walked all the way from the couch to the TV and he has also been walking around the kitchen today. So I guess we can say he is walking now. Yea!!!

He had his fifteen month check up yesterday. He got two shots and only cried for like a second and then right after the nurse put the band aids on he ripped them right off. Also he wouldn't let the doctor get anywhere near him without screaming, which he must just know that his doctor is an ass. He weighed in at 32 pounds and half an ounce and was 35 inches long. I can't believe that he is almost three feet tall. Crazy!!!

Lastly he got to visit with his aunt Lisa the other night. It was sad, he hasn't seen her in like 2 months and he didn't remember her. That just means she has to come visit us more often. I think once she started teaching him peek a boo he started to remember her (she is the one who taught him) because then he would finally let her hold him.
